2 way radio as a handheld device

When we found this post we were so excited, having hunted for over one year for this, finding it on this site was an thrilling day for me.

walkie talkie quad packDid you know a walkie talkie generally is a handheld device you can use for any number of reasons. The most typical and popular utilization of this kind of a radio is perfect for communication. This type of radio can be used as delivering and receiving data or signals simultaneously. This will make these products simple to use. Nowadays, two-way radios include lots of features. These functions happen to be added bearing in mind the requirements of the customers.

These radios can be found in different cost ranges. Most radios of the type are affordable. Also these walkie talkies can be found in a number of different variants.Everyone utilizes a two-way radio for different reasons. Therefore, the kind of radio that’s bought with a customer is dependent upon using radio stations for that person. You will find a number of things that has to be stored in your mind when purchasing a 2 way radio.

Among the primary factors includes the fundamental aspects of the radio. Probably the most key components that should be checked may be the battery. Many of these kinds of radios include an interior rechargeable battery. These batteries simply need charging for that radios for use for any very long time. One another hands many radios come with exchangeable batteries. During these radios, when the existence from the batteries will get over, the batteries have to be changed with brand new ones to keep using radio stations.

An additional component that determines the 2 way radio that may be bought may be the features or even the functions that can be found in radio stations. Many radios have particular functions that attract a lot of clients. Many occasions these radios have features which help in navigation or outside pursuits like hunting etc.

Many people prefer these kinds of radios. However, they are more costly compared to radios which have normal or regular functions. One more factor that may be centered on when purchasing two-way radios includes GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) channels. Most radios include this feature to ensure that the signal could be received more clearly.

This selection will also help one catch exclusive wavelengths. The incorporation of the feature constitutes a two-way radio more costly compared to normal radios. The price of this kind of radio must also be looked at before one may be bought. These radios are usually affordable. However, if your person needs additional features within the radio, one needs to spend just a little more.

Stadium Management with Kenwood Nexedge 2 Way Radio

walkie talkie buildingThe basis of this post is to make you consider what in life is important and what does getting the new zam communicator device really represent to us

With tens of thousands of people attending individual stadium events for sport and entertainment, the challenges facing management, safety offices and emergency services are both large in scale and complex.

Reducing the risks of accidents, petty crime, anti-social behaviour, public disorder and even acts of terrorism while managing the efficient flow of spectators, participants, VIPs, vehicles, goods and services at multiple entry and exit points, especially in the event of a major incident, is a major logistical feat.

In most cases the burden of responsibility to ensure compliance with legislation, best practice and the safety and security of the stadium and those within it falls upon the Stadium Safety Officer. One of the most powerful assets at their disposal in implementating a stadium’s safety and security strategy during events is the ability for all cross functional teams to communicate with each other, their counterparts and the emergency services instantly, reliably and effectively anywhere on site.

While Kenwood analogue licensed and license-free PMR446 radios have already been proven in service at stadia and events around the world for many years, more and more facilities are upgrading to Kenwood’s NEXEDGE® trunked Digital Two-Way radio solutions to provide clear and reliable multi-user voice and data communications and the flexibility to design a scalable digital radio communications network to suit their range and capacity requirements. NEXEDGE® digital radios additionally feature Analogue/Digital Mixed Mode, which allows them to communicate automatically with any existing analogue radios, whatever the make, to provide a straightforward and economical migration path from analogue to the benefits of advanced digital two way radio communications.

All NEXEDGE® hand portable walkie talkies additionally conform to MIL-STD-810 C/D/E/F/G for ruggedness and durability and are IP54/55 Water & Dust Intrusion rated, making them ideal for operation in open or harsh environments.

Rogue jumbos radio collared for tracking

2 way radio kmartSo to continue my run of posts on this blog, I have decided to share one of my favorite content pieces this week. I used to be tentative to add it to the blog as I really didn’t want to offend the original writer, but I trust he/she is happy that I loved reading their article and planned to share it with my readers.

COIMBATORE: Each blue dot on the screen recorded on the satellite-imposed image of the terrain on an hourly basis indicates the presence of the 25-year-old Makhna elephant presently roaming the Siruvani range in Mannarkkad forest division.

The GPS enabled radio collar fitted on the animal has been timed to send out signals every hour since the animal has a reputation of being a habitual crop raider and troublemaker. Additional details including longitude, latitude, altitude, temperature and the speed of movement of the animal will also be available to the officials. Experts from World Wildlife Fund (WWF) India in coordination with forest department officials have been engaged in tagging elephants to closely observe their behavioural patterns.

“So far, we have radio collared three elephants, two tuskers and the Makhna elephant to observe their movement patterns. These elephants were found regularly entering human habitation and so were tagged both for research and also for minimising human-animal conflict situations,” said N Mohanraj, policy advisor and wild life expert from WWF India.

The collar fitted with the signal transmitter beams the signals to the satellite which is received and then beamed back to the ground stations. These signals will be decoded and simplified to be broadcast to dedicated web servers. These web servers upload the information onto the web portal from where it could be accessed using specific username and password.

“The collar has GPS transmitter that will emit these signals. Generally we decide on the length of the strap depending on the age of the animal since we have to ensure that the animal does not feel any discomfort if its neck size increases with age. However, if the collar is too loose then it might even fall off the animal,” Mohanraj added

According to sources, discussions are on to 2 Way Radio collar six more elephants in the southern states, from the Nilgiri Biospehere in the coming months. It is also learnt that one or more of these animals could be matriarch female elephants and not just crop raiders so that the researchers would be able to understand the behaviour and movement pattern of an entire elephant herd.

The radio collar battery is expected to last for about two years and experts claimed that battery life could be extended by increasing the time interval of signal transmission. Generally, only elephants that are known to create damage to human life and property are tagged at close intervals as the main objective of tagging them is to send warning alerts.

But the GPS radio collaring exercise had gone sour in Coimbatore region after a male tusker that was tranquilised and tagged with the collar along with the female elephant died due to alleged human error during the operation resulting in a huge uproar from environmental activists.

The radio collaring project was temporarily shelved in the region after the incident in Tamil Nadu region. A female elephant was also radio collared here in Boluvampatty forest range in 2011, but the collar went missing from the animal within 10 months putting the forest department officials in a tight spot. Each GPS enabled radio collar is expected to cost more than RS 2.5 lakh.

“It is a trial and error method but all precautions are being taken while carrying out the process especially in selecting the terrain and also the dose of sedatives to be administered,” said Dr Jacob V Cheeran, a wild life expert.

According to experts, big animals like elephants should never be darted with tranquilizer in terrain which is uneven with steep slopes and gorges or with water bodies in the vicinity.

The animal may panic when hit with the dart and could suffer a fatal fall as the sedatives begin to work. The radio collared tusker here in Coimbatore was found dead in such a gorge a couple of hours after the tagging exercise.

    Importance of modern communications

walkie talkie walmartArticle of the Day………ok so i haven’t got a piece of writing each day, but if i get a chance I will post posts that I find interesting. Fortunate enough here’s one of these articles that I read and needed to share. Should you enjoy it as much as me, please add one of those special social media likes, you know the one which tells everyone that you loved something, rather then you sat on your arse and watched Television!

It is very important for individuals and businesses to be able to communicate whenever they wish to do so. Businesses need communication between the owners and the employees, within the business, between the business and its customers and between the business and its other associates. One common means of communication used by businesses in different sectors is a two way radio. This device needs a user to have a communications radio and an associated frequency. These frequencies are usually issued by a communications regulator, usually a government body. These allow for easy, private but effective communications.

Extra information about two Way Radios

There are many different industries in today’s world where the need for two way communications is necessary. One such field is security. Security personnel need to be able to communicate with each other easily. Since they have frequencies assigned to them, they will easily be able to communicate and pass messages to each other as required. Security personnel also need to be able to communicate with their superiors, to send messages to other personnel, to request backup and so on. These radios also come in handy at such times.

Operating such a radio is easy. A reference is always used to identify a caller as well as intended recipient of a message. In the military, they use pseudo names or nicknames but at the regular workplace, people can be referred to by their original names. Companies such as Scorpio instruments are well known for their quality work. This company provides quality services and products to its customers. The firm specialized in identifying the needs of their customers and then supplying solutions for their customers. These solutions are tailored to meet the specific needs. The firm deals in matters such as health care, food processing, agriculture as well as medicines and pharmaceuticals.

    About Scorpio Instruments
The firm Scorpio Instruments is well known for the quality solutions it provides its customers. These include single use data loggers, re-usable data loggers, thermo hygrometers, temperature sensors, sensors for other measurements such as flow, level, carbon dioxide, indicators, transmitters and customized data acquisition solutions. Now there is a two way radio product available from this well known and respected firm. These communications gadgets come in handy in various situations and it is better to have these when needed than regret at a later stage.

It is important to ensure that quality products and equipment needed for different operations are acquired, such as the two way radio. This is because these are essential for certain types of communications. These can be purchased from stores where they are sold and on some specific retail outlets. Businesses need to purchase and acquire the different products and facilities they need for regular operations. It is also important to always search for newer and better solutions when they become available. Technology has been improving and developing at such a fast pace and keeping up with these developments and advances is very important.

Pros and Cons of Open Source 2 way radio Software

communication builder deviceMy blog brings all the boys to the yard… see what we mean here

When choosing which piece of software to use you usually have the option of using licensed software that you have to pay for, or open source software, which not only do you not have to pay for, but the source code is also made available to you. You may immediately think that, since you do not have to pay for it, open source software is always the way to go, but that is not always the case as, depending on the situation, it may be better to pay the possibly high cost of licensed software for the benefits it has.

The benefits of open source software are numerous. As just mentioned, the foremost benefit of open source software is that it can be used at no cost to you or your company. All you need to do is download it. One of the other major benefits of open source software is the fact that its source code is freely available to you. This means that if you so desire, you can modify it yourself to make the software work to your liking. This is extremely helpful, as if you need a similar piece of software to one that is offered in the open source community, but that certain piece doesn’t have a feature you need, you can add that feature yourself. Also available is a multitude of ways to receive free support, and view the possibly vast documentation online.

Open source software does, however, need a dedicated community. The MOTOTRBO walkie talkie system is open source. I’m not certain what the development community is like for this product. Without one there won’t be enough people to keep the project going on all fronts. If there aren’t enough people working on the software itself, necessary updates will not get out in good time or coding may come completely to a halt.

Not only do there need to be enough coders, but there also has to be a large and dedicated support community working on the software documentation too. The community needs to be able to constantly update the documentation to match the changes taking place with the software, and make sure it is written well and readily available to users.

Sometimes though, open source software is not the answer and it is better to go with licensed software, even though you could end up paying hundreds of dollars for it. One of the most obvious cases is if there isn’t an open source equivalent of the software that you need, or if the open source equivalent isn’t quality software. Another reason to choose licensed software over open source is that the open source software just doesn’t contain a feature you need and you don’t have the means or the time to add it in yourself, or it’s just not worth it to do so.

One other reason is that you need quality technical support for the product. While open source software can have quality support, it is usually quicker and better for licensed products because there is usually a phone line available and a much larger community.

The role of Ham Radio in the 21st Century

The role of Ham Radio in the 21st Century
Thankyou for reading my website, here is a piece of writing i really loved reading. With their permission i can repost it. I compose lots of my own posts, but irregularly post other content i think are interesting, thanks for reading.

I remember getting my ham license back in 1992. I was 13 years old, and the thought of using 2-way radios to talk to other people had always fascinated me. I found myself intrigued by the “professionalism” of the Hams, not to mention the fact that hams got to play with seriously cool equipment (repeaters, huge antennas, auto-patch systems, and tons more!). It was real ego boost to be able to pick up a ham radio in any given location and make a phone call, talk to emergency personnel, or ask for assistance from a fellow him if your car broke down. There were practical reasons to have a ham radio license and carry a radio.
These days, the internet and cell phones have all but eliminated any of the traditional arguments on why ham radio is so important. Your cell phone will get you out of most any sticky situation, and the internet lets you talk to ‘strangers’ from all over the world without even trying. The trend is pretty clear when you get on the air, too. It’s extremely unusual to meet anyone under the age 60. (Interestingly, the same age group that’s been the slowest to adopt the internet).
So what’s the point? Ham Radio is the Past, Present, and Future of Wireless Innovation
There are a number of people out there who really are genuinely interested in RF (Radio Frequency) engineering. You have Ham Radio enthusiasts to thank for nearly every major modern advance in radio and electronics over the last 100 years. For example, the inventor of the integrated circuit (present in pretty much anything that has a button or a display today) says his love of electronics was because of his early involvement in ham radio. Current wireless technologies, such as WiFi, cell phones, wireless 3G and 4G, satellite communications, and much, much more all have their roots in ham radio. With very few exceptions, the engineers who are inventing and advancing the world of wireless technologies got their start, and their inspirations, from the ham world. If you’re the kind of person who loves to experiment with technology, you’ll find the ham radio world provides a never- ending supply of “I wonder what would happen if……..” scenarios, built around a community of fellow engineers who are always inventing new and interesting ways of experimenting with radio technology.
For those who are genuinely interested in a career (or a hobby) developing new wireless technologies, ham radio is currently he –only- legal way for the average person to experiment, learn, grow, and innovate. The FCC is very protective of this field (for various reasons), so for the sake of future innovation, ham radio provides a critical bridge between having an interest in the field, and creating new technologies for commercial purposes.
    What about Emergency Preparedness?
Emergency preparedness is the other “foot in the door” that continues to provide a lot of attention to the hobby. Unlike nearly all commercial communications systems, ham radio has no dependency on terrestrial infrastructure that can fail. Ham radio operators played a critical role during recent disasters, such as Katrina, 9/11, and the 2003 North American blackout, where normal communications systems were either completely down, or overwhelmed. And it wasn’t just voice and morse code, hams set up wireless computer networks to relay large amounts of information digitally as well. When the grid went down, ham radio took its place.
Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as “get your ham license, and you’ll be ready for an emergency!”
In 1993, the FCC eliminated the requirement to learn morse code in order to get a ham motorola radio license. It caused a massive influx of new (younger) people to get their ham radio licenses. But the majority of these new licensees weren’t interested in ham radio, they were interested in emergency preparedness. Most people who got their license around this theme realized the whole “ham thing” was much more complex than they realized and quickly lost interest. Even today, the vast majority of people passing their entry-level ham test are joining for the same (wrong) reasons, and like their predecessors from nearly 20 years ago, it isn’t taking long before they realize they’re in over their heads and they go back to focusing on their real hobby (emergency preparedness).
It’s a little like buying yourself a shiny new jet with the intent to eventually become a pilot. The airplane looks pretty impressive sitting in your driveway, until you realize that simply owning the airplane doesn’t mean you know how to operate it. It takes years of training and experience before you can actually fly – and if, during those years of training, you realize that you’re actually not that interested in the science of aviation, you’re going to get bored long before you ever learn to fly your new jet.
I mention this only to acknowledge that, while emergency communications is an important element of ham radio, it’s a very misunderstood topic. Those who are providing real assistance during emergencies are veterans of the hobby, and not those who have a license and a radio tucked away in a box. I would argue that, for those who are not sincerely interested in the technical side of the hobby, there are likely no benefits related to emergency preparedness.
Regardless, emergency preparedness remains a popular pillar of support for the hobby from the FCC and from congress. When things don’t go as planned, leave it to a group of guys who eat, sleep, and breathe ingenuity to come up with a solution.
Are there any other practical uses for ham radio in the 21st century? Given the massive proliferation of the internet and cell phones of this day and age, the answer is “probably not.”. But for those who love camping (as opposed to staying in a hotel), you understand that there can be a certain appreciation for “getting back to the basics”. Mountain climbers don’t climb the mountain because it needs to be done, they do it because the mountain presents a challenge. A NASCAR driver has but one purpose in a race: To prove that his skills and the engineering abilities of his team are superior. Ham radio operators will tell you that the accomplishments of making an “over the air” contact are a direct reflection of their own engineering prowess, and the next challenge always awaits. “Can I do it again with less power? A smaller antenna?”.
It’s sad that the ham community, the same folks who pride themselves on their ability to communicate, has done such a poor job of getting this message in front of the rising generation. This is a group of kids who have been solving complex problems since before they could read and write (video games, computers, the internet, cell phones). For the sake of the future of American innovation, I sincerely hope we can figure out a way to make sure the message is understood: Ham radio is simply a great way to challenge yourself with state of the art science and communications technology. It is generally nothing more, and it is definitely nothing less.

Colombia probes reported military spying of peace negotiators

The basis of the post is to make you think about what in life is essential and what does getting the new augmentative communication devices youtube really represent to people

Colombian military intelligence operatives intercepted phone communications of the government’s negotiating team at peace talks with Marxist FARC rebels, a newsweekly said on Tuesday, prompting the interior ministry to announce a probe of the reported espionage.

Interior Minister Aurelio Iragorri said the government appeared to be the victim of the surveillance. President Juan Manuel Santos and his Cabinet ministers had never ordered the interception of phone communications, Iragorri told Caracol walkie talkie.

Colombia began peace talks in Cuba with the FARC, or Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, in November 2012, weeks after Santos announced he had been holding secret talks with rebel leaders.
The negotiations have surfaced as a campaign issue ahead of elections in May in which Santos is running for reelection.
Semana weekly magazine said the cellular phones of peace negotiators Humberto de la Calle, Sergio Jaramillo and Alejandro Eder were intercepted, as well as leftist politicians like former Senator Piedad Cordoba.

Data from text messages were collected, but telephone calls were not listened to, it reported. The espionage was conducted from a Bogota restaurant and adjoining Internet center set up as front for the operation.
The government peace talks with the FARC guerrillas are conducted in secrecy, which both sides have held to, except for brief communiquč± about their progress.

This is the first spy scandal to emerge since the government intelligence agency known as the DAS was shut down after revelations of wire-tapping during the government of former President Alvaro Uribe.
The government and FARC have fought for five decades.
The peace talks, while mostly popular, have some detractors, like Uribe and his party’s choice as candidate for president in May, Oscar Ivan Zuluaga.

The aim of the military intelligence operation, code named “Andromeda,” was to garner as much information as possible about what was being discussed at the peace talks in Havana, according to a source cited by Semana.
Commenting on the Semana report, Interior Minister Iragorri said, “The most important is to carry out an internal investigation because this government at no time, no minister or the president, have given any instructions to interfere with communications of anyone.”

“In this case we are more the victims than the victimizer,” he added.
Semana said it spent 15 months investigating the spying and spoke to as many as 25 sources before publishing.
